Board of Directors

Members of the board have in-depth experience in both commercial pursuits and research applications. They are:

 

Dr. Wan-Keung Wong

Chairman of the Board of Directors, Associate Professor of Divison of Life Science at HKUST

 

Dr. Wong excels in the areas of Molecular Biotechnology, Immunobiochemistry and Fermentation. Currently a faculty in the Department of Biochemistry at the HKUST, he pioneered the expression systems for the extra-cellular production of valuable proteins in Escherichia coliBacillus subtilis and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. He has more than 20 years of research activities that are characterized by breakthroughs and patented results. Dr. Wong obtained his PhD in Microbiology from the University of British Columbia, Canada in 1986.

 

Dr. Nelson Cue

Member of the Board of Directors, Adjunct Professor of Physics at HKUST

 

Dr. Cue’s areas of expertise span strong field phenomena, surface science, nano-scale systems, biological materials, and active learning. He is an active promoter of technology transfers, continuing education, and new social organizations. In the late 1990s, he led the development of the first universal classroom learning tool called the Personal Response System (PRS) that is being used world wide and adopted for campus-wide usage at HKUST. Currently a Adjunct Professor of Physics at HKUST and the Director of the HKUST College of Lifelong Learning, Dr. Cue obtained his PhD in Physics from the University of Washington in Seattle in 1967.

 

 

Dr. Otto Lin

Member of the Board of Directors, President of the China Nansha Technology Enterprises Limited

 

Dr. Lin is engaged in the management of R&D and innovation, technology diffusion, science parks, science-technology and national competitiveness and polymers in electronics. He is actively involved in the modernization of industries in the Pearl River Delta area of China and improving the competitiveness of Hong Kong. Dr. Lin is currently the President of the China Nansha Technology Enterprises Limited. He obtained his PhD from the Columbia University in 1967.

 

Dr. Karl Tsim

Member of the Board of Directors, Chair Professor of Division of Life Science at HKUST

 

Dr. Tsim focuses on vertebrate neuromuscular junctions (PNS) and neuron-neuron synapses (CNS) as the model systems to study the cellular and molecular events that lead to the formation of synapses during development and regeneration. In addition, he has developed molecular technique to determine the genetic and chemical properties of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Dr. Tsim is currently Acting Head and Professor of the Department of Biology at HKUST. He obtained his PhD in Molecular Neurobiology from the University of Cambridge, U.K. in 1987.

 

 

Mr. Sik Lau LAM, Edmond

Member of the Board of Directors, General Manager of the Nansha Grand Hotel

 

Mr. Lam has extensive experience in business development in the Pearl River Delta region of China. In addition to being Director of Henry Fok Ying Tung Group of Companies, Mr. Lam is also appointed as General Manager of the Nansha Development and Construction Co. Ltd. and the Nansha Grand Hotel.
